While doing a one day Outreach in the remote area of Inanda Valley we came across a sad case of a gorgeous brindle africanus living her life on the end of a rope attached to a pole.
The rope was so short that she would twist herself around the post to the point she could not move. Her bed was a slab of cement with old bags.
Through all this she still maintained the happiest demeanor. Due to her boredom she continuously chased her own tail which was most distressing to see. Once the Inspector spoke to the owner it was apparent they no longer wanted her. Once in our care her personality bloomed. We called her Lucy. She no longer chased her tail and loved her new home where she was no longer constrained on a rope. Lucy was adopted by a lovely family whose two children could not wait to play with her. We are so grateful that Lucy got her second chance.
